NorthBridge Technology Overview

NorthBridge Technologies is a specialized technology company offering board level products and a unique semiconductor product offering. In addition, NorthBridge Technologies offers contract design services, specializing in system level design with an emphasis on boards and high complexity FPGAs.

NorthBridge Technology Semiconductor
The trend with the traditional ASSP offerings has been to pack more and more functionality onto a die, with the hope that increasing generalization will expand the customer base and allow the development costs to be amortized more efficiently. The process has the effect of driving the unit IC cost up and typically only a small subset of the functionality is used by any one customer.

NorthBridge Technology has identified the need for feature specific ASSPs, offering a reduced but customer targeted feature set. This allows smaller die to be used and has the effect of lowering the cost to the customer.

A key factor in developing feature specific ASSPs is the ability to quickly modify standard product in order to deliver customer specific feature sets while maintaining cost competitiveness. Our technology allows us to modify our standard product extremely quickly and with very low NRE. In manner instances samples are available within a week and production volumes are available almost immediately after the sample's functionality has been approved.

NorthBridge Technology Board Level Products
Capitalizing on both our semiconductor capability and our system design experience, NorthBridge Technology offers a family of PCI, CPCI and PC104+ multifunction boards.

Our standard board product is suitable for either low or high volume applications. As well, our technology and our systems expertise allow us to rapidly modify our standard product offering for customer specific solutions.

Additionally, NorthBridge Technology manufactures module boards. These boards contain one or more ICs and are intended to be installed on a larger printed circuit board as if the module were a standard ASSP. Often these module boards are used to replace ASSPs, as the module are manufactured to be footprint and I/O compatible with the part that they are replacing. Applications include system upgrades, adding more or new capacity, or obsolete component replacement.

NorthBridge Technology Design Services
NorthBridge Technologies offers contract design and Intellectual property design services. We specialize in custom board design and high speed, high complexity FPGAs. Our core design group has had over 900 design engagements with over 400 customers globally. Combined, the team has over 120 man years of experience.

Each of our design centers are capable of offering different sets of expertise, while maintaining close personal contact with our customers.

Working in conjunction with leading FPGA suppliers, NorthBride Technology delivers leading edge designs in the smallest possible FPGA. Often custom FPGAs are combined with our custom module capability to create unique robust solutions at a fraction of the cost of other more traditional approaches.

Working in conjunction with our customers, NorthBridge Technology offers unique "cradle to grave" reference board solutions. In addition to creating the design from customer requirements, NorthBridge Technology can manage the complete product life cycle, from design through production into supply management and after sales service and support. This offering is targeted at semiconductor suppliers and fabless semiconductor companies who require reference boards, but do not wish to dedicate the resources required to support such a program.

NorthBridge Technology Management

President: Andrew Goodwin
Andrew Goodwin is the President of NorthBridge Technolgy. As a co-founder of this company, Andrew brings with him over 23 years of experince in the electronics industry. His experience is both global and spans multiple sectors of the Hi-Tech industry.

Prior to founding NorthBridge Technology, Andrew was the Global Director of Design Services at Memec, a leading global semiconductor distributor. During his tenure at Memec, Andrew was responsible for growing the Design Services division from a single location through to seven design centers in North America and eventually adding design centers in Europe, Hong Kong and Japan.

Before Memec, Andrew held several key engineering and engineering manangement positions at Imapro Corporation, a leading manufacturer of digital imaging and pre-press systems.
